Product Description

What is Bituprime?

Bituprime is a high-quality, water-based bitumen primer designed specifically for metal roof priming. It’s ideal for restoring and repairing stone-chipped roofs.

Recommended Applications

Shieldcoat Bituprime Roof Primer is specifically designed for metal roofing and stone-chipped roof restoration. Its fast-drying nature, excellent adhesion, and flexibility make it a versatile primer for a wide range of roofing projects.

  • Fast drying: Dries to the touch within 60 minutes at 20°C, reducing downtime and allowing for faster recoating.
  • Excellent adhesion: Adheres strongly to various substrates, including metal and stone-chipped surfaces, ensuring long-lasting results.
  • Flexibility: Its flexible formulation allows it to withstand structural movements, temperature changes, and weather conditions without cracking or peeling.
  • Water washup: Makes cleaning tools and equipment easy with just water after use, simplifying the application process.

Application Process

How to Apply Bituprime

To apply Shieldcoat Bituprime Roof Primer effectively, start by thoroughly cleaning the surface, ensuring it’s free from dirt, moisture, and any loose materials that could hinder adhesion. Once prepped, stir the primer to achieve a uniform consistency, then apply it evenly using a brush, roller, or spray, aiming for a wet film thickness of 100 microns, which will dry to 36 microns. The primer dries to the touch within 60 minutes at 20°C, but allow at least two hours before recoating. Adjust for drying times in cooler or more humid conditions. After completing the application, clean tools and equipment with water promptly to maintain their integrity and prevent hardening. Following these steps will ensure a smooth, durable primer layer for your roofing project.
